IPadOS Got a Mouse.

If you follow the technical news at all out there, you will have seen that Apple has done something that no one has ever done before. It is mind-boggling how revolutionary this is. All the Apple news forums have it. They can't stop talking about it. Many have never seen anything like it. Words like 'Fabulous' and 'Amazing'. Phrases like 'It Just Works' have been resurrected for this glorious new day in tech. iPadOS as of 13.4 has .... wait for it... mouse/trackpad support. That's never been done before! Apple is a freaking genius! I don't get it. How much money did Apple pay to get that kind of mindless coverage? I have two iPad's. I am an Apple person. I write on my Mac and Macbook Pro all day long every day. I love MacOS. I have a Mac Mini and an iMac. Apple is the dominant OS at my house. We do not allow MS Windows in here. But really? Apple finally fixed a long-standing issue with the iPad. Why isn't the coverage 'finally

Sequestered Times

I am about 21 or 22 scenes into posting book 9 : Changing the World, on Wattpad right now.  https://www.wattpad.com/story/216768462-changing-the-world In this weird time of Covid-19 self sequestering, I thought I would actually be getting more writing done than I am! Turns out cats need shots, gardens need work, houses need cleaning, groceries need to be distantly bought... on and on. It just now occurred to me I need to get books 1-8 up on Amazon too. I put them up over there in the book sharing way so anyone can read them. It might be nice to have a little science-based Vampire escapism out there right now. I have also wasted a huge amount of time posting to a discussion forum on Cult of Mac about whether the iPad is a valid replacement for a MacBook. Not sure why other than the original author managed to get right up my nose with their position. Probably meant for it to. I tried not to be bitchy, but I was. End of the day, I am not even sure the Author meant what they said or

Stranded in the Mojave

It looks like my main 2 Macs (the ones I write with) are stuck on Mojave for the foreseeable future. A confluence of two events: Google dropped Picasa in favor of its SaaS Photos product. Photos is fine for photos. Picasa does FAR more, and I use it for things like book covers. It's 32 bit. Apple dropped support for 32 bit apps in Catalina (10.15) So: Stuck. Nice work, tech people.  I blame Google more than Apple on this one. They have profit/marketing reasons to want Photos to be what everyone uses. In the process, they destroyed the easiest to use Photo software out there. I have Pixelmator. NOT the same.

Android Auto Part Deaux

Somewhere in the update stream for AA, my Note 9 and Pioneer AVX realized they could chat without the USB attached. A little surprising when AA popped up on the screen and the phone was not attached yet. My SO's Apple does that all the time already, and it is annoying when their phone bogarts my Pioneer head unit! Now there is a new annoying thing. It keeps saying that the connection to the head unit is weak, and it says it over and over and over. It never says that about the Apple device. Only the Note 9 (with a headphone jack!) I messed around with settings to make it stop doing wireless connections and finally had to turn off the wireless IN the head unit. Good news, now the Apple devices do not snarf up the head unit. Bad news, ever now and then, the head unit randomly re-enabled the wifi, and I start getting all the 'poor signal' message again. I see why this was a stealth release. Not ready for prime time at all. It has gotten to be second nature to swipe aw

Android Auto

I have three old cars. My Note 9 (with a headphone jack) USB-C cables into one of my car's Android Auto head. Lately, it has been bugging me to try the new Android Auto. I did. I tried it for two days, then set it back. Essentially, Android Auto wants to move away from the card interface to an icon interface, ala Apple CarPlay. Why? I love the cards. I love driving for hours on end and learning the name of the place I am at because the weather card updates with the name of the place and the weather report for HERE. The new interface (Carplay Light) has a weather icon, and it reads out the weather. I have to tap it. It's not already there on the display. If I am playing Spotify, the card has the controls on the card. now they are across the bottom? Why? This would be so easy. Put the notifications button on the toolbar. Put the apps on the toolbar (same as Android has had forever plus 10 days). Now I can choose if I want to stare at useless icons all day or have a live

Book Six rolling out on Wattpad

https://www.wattpad.com/story/198512802-missing-vampire-reward-available After I finished writing the last third of the book, I went back and started my new standard wattpad edit process, posting the book scene by scene, and running it through two more 'edit filters' stages. As of right now, more than half the book is up on Wattpad, and I anticipate having it all the way up in a week or so. Progress on that is posted on Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook. https://cjstevens.tumblr.com/ https://www.facebook.com/cj.stevens.92754 https://twitter.com/cjstevens2018 The Tumblr feed is reflected at my web page, Amazon author page, and at Goodreads: https://smile.amazon.com/CJ-Stevens/e/B07FNVQDYJ http://www.hypernaturalsbooks.com/ https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/18235299.CJ_Stevens Once this is done, I'll go back and do book covers for books five and six, and then I'll start rolling out the new editions on Amazon. The new editions, in addition to being re

Finished Jessica Jones S3. Wah!

I pick a show to watch while I am torturing myself at the gym. It has to be a show I love, and I have to go to the gym to see it. Before this it was Lucifer. Now...? Guess maybe Flash, because I already watched Supergirl in real-time (I can't wait for Batwoman!) I read a review of JJ S3, and I should know better than to read reviews. Critics think that in order to be effective, they have to criticize.  When they can't think of anything bad, they make up stuff. Donald Trumps REAL fake news. In this case, the reviewer (that I will not dignify with a link) said that S3 was 'a mess'. I think they were watching something else. Maybe Inhumans? S3 was terrific. Hard as hell to watch, because it was about the hero's journey, and Jessica and Trish being on it and feeling different things about it. A show with little in the way of blowing shit up that kept me distracted 42 minutes every other day on the elliptical. JJ S3 was wonderful, and I hate like hell its the l
